We’re recruiting: Activities Coordinator

(maternity cover, October 2018-July 2019)

BEA (which manages OWLS) is recruiting an Activities Coordinator, to help tackle social isolation amongst older adults by coordinating a programme of regular activities in North West Leeds.

The post will require someone with experience of co-ordinating activities and events in a community setting.

This is a great opportunity to work for a local organisation, supporting older people to live active, independent lives.

Pay:  NJC SO1 £26,470-28,221 (pro rata)
Hours: 24 hours per week
Holidays: 28 days holiday plus Bank Holidays (pro rata)

OWLS and Swarthmore college will be running their own marquee again this year and we will be organising a fantastic afternoon of activities, including bun decorating, crafts and, of course, bingo!

Kirkstall Festival

Saturday 14th July 2018, 11.00-17.00

This popular community event will once again be taking place at the picturesque Kirkstall Abbey grounds, OWLS will be running their own information and activity stall, so pop along and say hello and enjoy seeing what our local community has to offer!

We are also looking for volunteers who would like to help out on our stall for an hour or so throughout the day. Please give the office a call on 0113 3697077 if you are interested.

NEW: Walking Group trial

Monday 9th July, 2.00-4.00pm

OWLS member Simon Kilner would like you to join him for a relaxed short stroll around Meanwood urban Farm followed by a cuppa in the cafe.

The get together is designed to be an accessible alternative to conventional walking groups. It’s a way for those who don’t walk far to socialise, get a bit of fresh air and light exercise. Call Simon on 07939 041636. Wheelchair pushers, carers, friends & family welcome.
